This gala event is the kick-off to DSA&#8217;s 20th anniversary celebration, and an important school wide fundraising effort. <strong>Your participation</strong>, <em>buying tickets</em> and attending the event or <em>selling tickets</em>, <strong>is critical</strong> for the evening to be successful. <p><strong>Tomorrow</strong>, September 2, is <strong>Back to School Night</strong> at DSA. Schedules will be available at 5:20 p.m., there will be a sneak peak of Thoroughly Modern Millie in the Schomp Theatre at 5:30, and classroom visits will begin at 6:00.</p>

<p>There will be special programming throughout the school year honoring this milestone, and a lot of energy and enthusiasm placed into planning for the future. Principal Kohut, the <a href="http://dsafriends.org/">Friends of DSA</a>, and the DSA <a href="http://dsa.dpsk12.org/stories/storyReader$3211">PTSO</a> are proud to announce the:</p>

Celebrating the first 20 years;<br />
Creating a foundation for the next 20 years</div>
<p>This campaign includes a fundraising component designed to build a capital fund to support initiatives that carry the school forward the next two decades and on.</p>
<p><a href="http://dsadance.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/tmm.png"><img src="http://dsadance.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/tmm.png" alt="Thoroughly Modern Millie" title="tmm" width="200" height="268" class="alignright size-full wp-image-1873" /></a>
<p>Kicking off this campaign will be a benefit performance of <strong>Thoroughly Modern Millie</strong>, and the <strong>Vision 20/20 Gala</strong> on <strong>Friday, September 24</strong>. This special event will include a presentation of the Vision 20/20 Campaign by Principal Kohut, additional exhibits and performances by DSA students throughout the evening, and an elegant after-show reception with more DSA student entertainment.</p>
<p><strong>We need your help.</strong> Tickets for the event are $75 ($55 is tax deductible) and seating for the show is general admission. Each DSA department will be <strong>selling</strong> a proportional number of <strong>tickets </strong>to fill the Kay Schomp Theatre this night, and the Department of Dance and Movement is responsible for about 40 tickets. Anyone is welcome, especially arts patrons and philanthropists who may be interested in supporting DSA. If you, or your family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers could join us on this important evening, please contact Kim Daniels (using the form below)—she has tickets available for you, as well as credit card forms.</p>
<p>Having a full house to begin this year long celebration is the goal of the Gala Committee, but recognizing there are plenty of people interested in supporting DSA unable to attend on the 24th, there are additional &#8220;<strong>no-show tickets</strong>&#8221; available for a suggested $75 tax deductible donation. Without reserving a seat, patrons are still able to contribute to the Vision 20/20 Campaign kick-off. Please encourage your contacts to support DSA for the evening, even if they are unable to attend. These &#8220;no-show tickets&#8221; are also available through Kim Daniels.</p>
<p>DSA was able to negotiate limited royalties for a single performance of the show, which means that all proceeds beyond normal ticket prices this night directly fund DSA programs and campaigns.</p>
<p>Additional information about the <strong>Vision 20/20 Campaign</strong> will be available in the coming days and weeks.</p>

The award presentations and final adjudication for the scholarships will be at CDA&#8217;s Annual Meeting on Saturday November 13th from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at the Grant Avenue Community Center, 216 S. Grant Avenue, Denver, CO. Anyone &#8211; CDA Members and Non-Members &#8211; can nominate persons for these awards and scholarships. Incomplete applications will not be considered until completed with all supporting materials included.</p>
<h4>Richard Denny Young Dancer Scholarships</h4>
<p>2010 marks the second year for CDA Scholarship Awards, named for Richard Denny, who was instrumental in the formation of the CDA Awards, as well as an outstanding educator of dance. Any young dancer, aged 15-20 years, who is currently studying any form of dance in Colorado, is eligible. A DVD of a solo performance by the applicant must be submitted with each nomination. The top three or four applicants will also perform for a final adjudication panel at the awards ceremony. Normally three awards are made, i.e., first, second, and third.</p>
